Overview

Dignity Health’s Pacific Central Coast Health Centers (PHC) is a non-profit Community clinic organization comprised of more than 40 health centers located primarily from Ventura to Templeton spanning the coast. PHC is a part of Dignity Health Central Coast’s award-winning network of outstanding hospitals imaging centers laboratories and post-acute services.


Responsibilities

In keeping with the Pacific Central Coast Health Center's philosophy under the direction and supervision of the Operational and/or Medical Director the medical assistant will assist licensed medical staff in the preparation of patients for delivery of services utilizing basic administrative clerical and technical skills. Responsibilities may include:

Maintain the exam rooms assuring that they are clean and well stocked with the necessary supplies and medical instruments before the arrival of the first patient.Takes patient vital signs including temperature blood pressures pulse respirations. weight and height and records these findings on the clinicians progress notes. Performs vision and hearing tests for all patients as required and records the results on the progress note.Assists in the maintenance of accurate and complete patient medical record/chart including but not limited to the following: updates the Problem Summary Sheet records vital signs test results and referrals.Maintains an inventory of medications and medical supplies. An order will be placed as needed. And entering newly arrived medications into the log prior to storage.If properly trained administers medications by intra-muscular sub-cutaneous and intra-dermal injection performs skin tests while demonstrating knowledge in pertinent anatomy and physiology proper techniques post treatment and care choice of equipment hazards and complications and California Medical Assistant scope of practice.Collects handles and disposes lab specimens and infectious waste material utilizing proper technique thereby eliminating the spread of infectious disease.
Qualifications
1-3 years prior medical assistant experience or completion of a medical assistant training program.Complete a medical assistant training program.AHA BLS (CPR) card within 90 days of hire.
