Location : Mount Vernon, New York
Hours : Full Time / 35 hours per week
Salary : $27.47
Position Summary : The Medical Assistant provides administrative support to the Medical Director and psychiatry team for The Guidance Center of Westchester (TGCW) programs. TGCW operates utilizing a behavioral health urgent care model to ensure rapid access to services and supports to address complex and potentially co-occurring mental health, alcohol and other substance use challenges. Treatment programs are integrated and operate utilizing a whole health and whole person approach. The medical assistant engages in tasks to ensure program participants psychiatric care and related medical needs are monitored and effectively supported.
Responsibilities :
+ Respond to and triage calls related to psychiatric services and support.
+ Contact medical providers or utilize online mechanisms to obtain lab results, physical exam information, and other medical records.
+ Manage psychiatry team schedules and schedule appointments for psychiatric services.
+ Conduct daily review of I-STOP/Prescription Monitoring Program Registry to obtain dispensed controlled substance prescription histories for scheduled patients .
+ Monitor monthly injection due dates and ensure medications are delivered timely.
+ Contact patients related to medication adherence and any prescription fulfillment challenges.
+ Assist with prior authorizations for medications and resolving pharmacy fulfillment challenges.
+ Coordinate language interpretation support as needed.
+ Other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
+ Passion for TGCW's mission and purpose and an ability to communicate this passion to others.
+ Positive attitude and demeanor with an ability to engage individuals of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and needs.
+ Medical Assistant Certification or 3 years’ experience working with doctors and nurses (clinic or hospital experience preferred).
+ Able to provide clerical and administrative support to a variety of health professionals.
+ Experience with medical terminology, medical billing, and insurance companies.
+ Strong engagement, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
+ Experience with electronic health record documentation and proficient computer skills.
+ Organized, solution-focused team player who supports a collaborative team approach.
+ Spanish language experience is a plus.
