Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Medical Assistant to join our team in a Cardiology office. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient patient flow, prepare treatment rooms, and provide appropriate procedural support. A Medical Assistant Diploma is required and 3 years of consistent experience is preferred.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure efficient patient flow.Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient examinations.Provide appropriate procedural support following department-specific guidelines.Perform initial intake of patients, including interviewing patients and families to obtain chief complaint/reason for visit, vital signs, and allergy information.Accurately record and update relevant patient information.Perform daily Quality Controls (QC) for all Point of Care (POC) testing.Obtain specimens and accurately perform and record patient POC testing per policy.Under provider and/or RN direction, track and retrieve patient lab/diagnostic testing results for timely provider review and follow-up.Under provider and/or RN direction, perform administrative functions of the patient prescription renewal process in accordance with policy.Provide cross-coverage for other appropriate clinical roles.Provide support for departmental medical record audits.Clean and stock patient care rooms between patients.Maintain appropriate inventories of all medical supplies.Stock and maintain all patient-related forms and educational materials.Utilize equipment appropriately and notify the Practice Manager of equipment/facility break-down or damage.Ensure documentation is legible and within the appropriate MA scope/Organizational documentation guidelines.Accurately document patient information on appropriate forms.Demonstrate accuracy in basic data entry and data retrieval of paper/electronic patient records.Perform other duties as assigned to promote health, safety, and comfort.Travel to satellite locations as required.Demonstrate an awareness of safety needs and a basic knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, risk management, and environment of care policies.Ask questions and seek clarifications and assistance when needed, especially in situations that fall outside of the MA scope of practice.Demonstrate support for the mission, vision, values, and goals of the organization through consistent behaviors.Essential SkillsMedical Assistant Diploma3 years of consistent experience preferredKnowledge of cardiologyExperience in patient care, phlebotomy, and customer serviceFamiliarity with epic systems, data entry, and administrative supportAbility to perform manual vitals, holter monitors, and EKGsAdditional Skills & QualificationsReliable and punctualExperience in appointment scheduling, medical terminology, insurance verification, and front desk operationsUnderstanding of infection control, risk management, and environment of care policiesAbility to support departmental medical record auditsAbility to travel to satellite locationsWork Environment

Candidates will work in a Cardiology office located at 310 East Shore Road, Great Neck, New York. The office operates Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with an 8-hour shift and a half-hour unpaid lunch. There are no weekend shifts. The team includes 4 providers throughout the week, including an internist who has his own medical assistant.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
