Medical Assistant Apprentice Program
Job Summary

The MA Apprentice will be required to complete program course work in conjunction with on-the-job clinical training. Working under the direct supervision of the program coordinator and clinical preceptors (MA, LPN, RN, Provider) to build clinical knowledge and aid in patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative health care in the clinic setting. The MA Apprentice will practice and perform technical procedures, lab protocols and clinically oriented activities within their current scope of practice dictated by their training program and successful competency performance under direct supervision. Apprentice may progress to Medical Assistant position after successful completion of their Apprenticeship and certification exam.

Essential Functions

Under direct supervision, assists clinical staff/physician/provider by providing primary healthcare and patient care management, within scope of practice.Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with patients, staff, leadership, and accreditation bodies about process and workflow.Maintains and cleans environment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnelAssists with clinical and clerical duties within the program direction.Maintains open communication with precepting staff and program coordinator.Completes program course work in accordance with the program syllabus.Performs proper application of clinical skills in accordance with the program syllabus.Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Commits to continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety,
quality of care and excellent service. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data. Adheres to the organization’s published values, standards, and policies.

Qualifications

Required High School Diploma or equivalent1 year of relevant experience Clinical Assistant or Nursing Assistant (Preferred)Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire
