Medical Assistant - Dermatology - Mission Valley

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. No weekends or extended hours. Shift hours may vary based on need. Located at Scripps Clinic Liberty Station but may float to other sites as needed.

What you'll do:

Front and back office dutiesPerform patient intakesScribing for the dermatologistAssisting with diagnostic testing, phototherapy and surgical proceduresCompleting clerical duties including scheduling patient visits, taking supply inventory and managing medication authorization approvalsFloat to other sites within the specialty depending upon department needsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice.Assisting in preparing patients for examination/proceduresAssisting physicians with proceduresRelaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewAdministering medications specifically directed by the physicianPerforming vital sign documentationScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingRouting messages to the appropriate area for directionOrder and referral entryAcquisition of pre-certificationsSetting up of cases in EPICBasic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program or a minimum of two years of experience as a Military Corpsman or Medical Assistant CertificationBLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of previous MA experience in the given departmentExperience assisting with proceduresScribing experience

Required Qualifications:
