**Responsibilities**
**This position is eligible for a $2k sign on bonus!**
Provides basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures prepares and may include administrating medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above the Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration check-in and scheduling of patients.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum**
+ High School diploma or equivalent.
+ Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program.
+ American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
+ Excellent interpersonal organizational and customer service skills are essential.
+ Medical terminology familiarity with CPT and ICD-9 coding procedures and reference tools and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice is essential.
+ Keyboarding skills and the ability to utilize computer equipment and software are required as is experience with other types of standard office equipment.
**Preferred**
+ Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred. Six (6) month's experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist preferred; or an equivalent amount of experience in a high-volume customer service role in another industry/environment; or 6 months experience as a Phone Receptionist or Health Information Associate within Dignity Health.
+ Certification as a Medical Assistant.
+ Familiarity with an electronic practice management system is preferred.
+ Experience with multi-line phones/ACD phones preferred.
Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
**Pay Range**
$21.93 - $23.54 /hour
