JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably with oncology patients.
Maintenance of Instruments
Cleans and prepares instruments in accordance with institutional policy and center guidelines. Prepares/stocks rooms with needed instruments.
Equipment maintenance
Transport equipment across the institution as indicated. Notify appropriate resource (i.e. Biomed) as needed for equipment repair.
Communication/Respect
Uses appropriate communication skills with team members. Accepts and incorporates constructive feedback into professional practice. Can locate and utilize institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment safely and effectively.
Prioritizes and completes all work in an effective and efficient manner. Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness and flexibility. Effectively and efficiently uses time, equipment and supplies.
Functions as an interdependent and supportive team member for fostering constructive relationships with co-workers, managers and other.
Provides support and assistance, as appropriate. With direction, remains calm and purposeful and responds in an appropriate, professional manner in emergent or chaotic situations. Participates in clinic meetings/activities and supports the clinical, departmental and organizational philosophy and goals. Values differences by listening to and appreciate other points of view. Helps team members to serve our patient population.
Accepts responsibility for own growth/development.
Participates in in-services and ongoing education programs. Remains current on all in-service/education/certification requirements for position as appropriate. Exchanges constructive feedback with peers and other. Demonstrates initiative in developing and implementing personal action plan for performance improvement

Education
Required: High school diploma/equivalent.
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program
Experience
Required: One year of medical assistant experience. With preferred degree, no experience is required.
