Location: College Station, TexasSchedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8a-5pDepartment: University Health Services Salary: $15.85 - $17.44 About the Role As a Medical Assistant, you’ll provide direct patient care and support clinicians in a variety of essential tasks. From administering medications to preparing exam rooms, your role is key to ensuring a smooth, safe, and welcoming experience for every patient. Requirements: + High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience + 2+ years of related experience in a medical office, hospital, nursing home, or home health setting + Must obtain Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification or registration prior to start date; must maintain as condition of employment + Eligible for certification or registration through ARMA, AAMA, or NHA + Ability to obtain BLS certification within 6 months of hire + Strong multitasking, teamwork, and confidentiality skills + Basic EMR documentation skills A well-qualified candidate will have experience in a college healthcare setting and have completed a Medical Assistant training program. What You’ll Do Patient Care: + Provides patient care activities daily + Transfers patients from reception area to exam rooms, measures vital signs, obtains height and weight, interviews patients for medical history, and updates health information in the electronic health record (EHR) + Administers medications and injections as directed by a physician or advanced practice provider + Performs basic procedures, including taking electrocardiograms, vision and hearing screening, ear lavage, spirometry and peak flows, nebulizer treatments, throat/nasal swabs, and fitting ortho slings, splints, and braces + Prepares patients for tests, exams, and procedures and explains basic treatment procedures to patients + Assists and/or chaperones providers during exams or procedures + Documents patient care activities in the electronic health record (EHR) Medical Office: + Greets patients and provides assistance and direction + Answers the telephone and responds to routine inquiries from patients and staff or transfers calls to appropriate unit + Obtains electronic signatures for consent to treat + Assists with inventory and office equipment maintenance for assigned area/clinic. + Stocks patient care areas as needed Safety and Compliance: + Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes exam rooms and medical instruments in accordance with policies and procedures for infection control + Assists in the organization and upkeep of assigned area to ensure a clean and safe working environment + Completes continuing education as required by certifying board and Student Health Services Administrative: + May assist in training student worker nursing assistants + Participates on committees as assigned Why Join Us? + Be part of a supportive, mission-driven team + Gain valuable experience in a fast-paced clinical setting + Opportunities for professional development and continuing education + Make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our community Ready to Apply?
