**Job Summary**
Welcome to The Population Health Center. We are home to 3 clinics:
* Intensive Outpatient Clinc ( IOC )- We are a family practice clinic that specializes in helping those with behavioral and social determinant needs.
* Newcomer Clinic- We are a specialty clinic that does initial health screenings, labs and vaccines for patients who are new refugees to this country.
* Rose Park Primary Care Clinic- We are a family practice clinic run by the University of Utah School of Medicine faculty and students.
We are hiring a Medical Assistant committed to providing exceptional care to others. This position is unique in its scope as it will support the whole center and not just one individual clinic. It will also include clinical & administrative responsibilities. Job duties will include providing clinical support to each clinic as needed (i.e. floating between all 3 clinics as an MA) as well as administrative support. Administrative support will include but is not limited to front desk duties (answering phones, checking in patients, answering patient questions, and filling food pantry orders) as well as supporting the clinics with their recruitment and referrals, scheduling, and managing billing logs.
**Responsibilities**
**Essential Functions:**
MA Responsibilities:
* Rooming patients and preparing them for examinations by taking and recording vital signs.
* Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments ( CLIA ) Waved Lab tests as identified by provider.
* Performs skills of laboratory draws and vaccine administration.
* Assists and supports provider(s) with documentation, checking and answering EPIC messages, acting as chaperone for sensitive exams, answering patient concerns within scope of practice, and other patient care duties as needed.
* Performs EKG or ultrasound scans as needed and after appropriate training.
* May assist in patient education by providing educational material and general health information.
* May perform other duties based on center assignment.
Administrative Responsibilities:
* Support at the front desk by answering phones, checking in or scheduling patients, and answering basic patient questions.
* Provides support to the team by working in the food pantry, filling food boxes, and helping patient with community resources.
* Managing billing logs for the Newcomer Clinic in the center.
* Providing support for Recruitment efforts for the Intensive Outpatient Clinic.
* May perform other duties based on center assignment.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Required:
+ Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
+ One of the following:
1. Current Advanced EMT certification with the State of Utah.
2. Current certification to practice as a Paramedic in the State of Utah.
3. Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant ( CMA ) through AAMA
4. Currently credentialed in ABR -OE (Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry) through AAMA .
5. Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant ( RMA ) through AMT
6. Current certification as a National Certified Medical Assistant ( NCMA ) through NCCT .
7. Current Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through NHA .
8. Current certification as a NRCMA – Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals.
+ If candidate is not certified upon hire, they must have completed an accredited Medical Assisting program before date of hire.
+ One of the indicated certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.
