General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Physician/Provider, assists in minor office procedures and injections, performs patient intake assessments, discharges patients from clinic and procedures, educates patient on procedures and medication changes, as well as new medications. Manages message center including taking phone calls off voicemail and entering them into EHR. 

Essential Functions: Input patient information into the computer. Check patients in and also check patients out by scheduling future appointments or outpatient tests. Answer telephones and route the calls to the correct party. Take messages for all staff and physicians. Demonstrates the skills necessary to implement medical plan of care, clinical intervention, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Fulfills patient care responsibilities which may include: accompanying patients to exam room, assessing patient's general condition, collecting history, vital signs, and ensures patient needs are met.  Documents all interventions, patient/family responses, responsible for charting patient encounter day of visit to ensure a well documented, organized, and chronological medical record.  Labeling, documenting, and tracking all specimens or tests ordered/received following the set standards.  Also responsible for reporting all test results to physician.  Sets up instruments and equipment according to proper protocol and cleans exam rooms between patient visits adhering to infection control/safety guidelines.
