Medical Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery - Torrey Pines

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday either from 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm. No weekends or holidays. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla. One position is a Surgical Specialties Float and the other is for Orthopedic Surgery. Both will work in Orthopedic Surgery primarily and may be required to float to other sites as needed.

Your job duties:

Rooming patientsChecking vitalsAssisting with proceduresClinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocolsPredominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basisMaintains a clean, organized, and safe environmentOrganizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practiceRelaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phoneDocumenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewAdministering medications specifically directed by the physicianScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingRouting messages to the appropriate area for directionOrder and referral entryAcquisition of pre-certificationsSetting up of cases in EPICBasic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

Required Certification/Registration:

BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient settingPrevious experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
