The Certified Medical Assistant provides both clinical and non-clinical support to providers, clinical staff, and patients within the Pain Management service line. This role is responsible for delivering person-centered care while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and efficient clinic operations. The role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and adherence to practice protocols and New York State laws.\n
Roles and Responsibilities:\n\nPerform clinical duties and procedures within the certified medical assistant's scope of practice, adhering to NYS laws and practice protocols.\nRecord patients' vital signs, document medical history, medications, and allergies, and prepare exam rooms for patient visits.\nAssist physicians and providers with clinical inquiries, prescription refills, test results, and patient calls following practice protocols.\nPrepare patient records before visits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.\nAdapt to additional responsibilities as required to support clinic operations.\n\n
Required Skills and Experience:\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to assess situations and make informed decisions.\nCompletion of yearly mandatory safety in-services and\/or training.\n\n
Preferred Skills and Experience:\n\nCertification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.\nExperience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in Pain Management.\n\n
Physical Requirements:\n\nRepetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard use).\nLifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, and medical supplies.\nStooping, kneeling, and reaching for supplies and filing.\nSitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods (4-8 hours).\nAbility to operate medical equipment used in daily tasks.\n\n
Location, Travel, and Shift Requirements:\n\nOnsite - Cayuga Medical Center, 101 Dates Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850.\nOnsite - Cayuga Medical Center, East Campus, 17 Arrowwood Dr., Ithaca, NY 14850.\nFull-time (37.5 hours per week), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.\n\n
Pay Range Disclosure:\n\nStandard Rate: $19.50 per hour plus benefits.\nEnhanced Rate: $21.93 per hour without benefits.\n\n
