As a Medical Assistant, you will have substantial autonomy, serving as a critical asset to the Scripps Cancer Center.You will act as the primary point of contact, providing essential support and continuity as new nurses and doctors arrive daily to address various types of cancer.Your role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of the center and ensuring a consistent and effective patient care experience.Your job duties:
Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with proceduresClinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocolsMaintains a clean, organized, and safe environmentOrganizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practiceRelaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized personCollecting patient data in person and by phoneDocumenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's reviewPerform blood drawsScheduling of appointments and proceduresComplete and accurate message takingRouting messages to the appropriate area for directionOrder and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certificationsSetting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographicsThis is a benefited, full time position working 8-hr shifts Monday-Friday with start times ranging between 7:30-8:30am. One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred.Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsmanBLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
