Position Summary: Performs a range of clinical, administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient medical operation under the supervision of the LPN, RN, NP or MD.
Job Responsibilities:
Verify patient information by interviewing patient; recording basic medical history; confirm visit purpose and update changes prior to each appointmentPerforms administrative tasks including answering phone calls, greeting patients, updating and filing patients medical records; complete insurance forms for billing; manage correspondence memos, letters, faxes and formsOrganize and schedule appointments for patients; arrange hospital admissions, surgical and laboratory services with center; verify times with patients; prepare charts, pre-admission and consent forms Assist with medical examinations; prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical test; take and record vital signs including blood pressure, weight and temperaturePrepare, arrange and clean examine rooms with examining-room instruments and equipment prior to patient appointmentsCollect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform basic laboratory test on the premises; dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilized medical instrumentsCollaborate in sharing information with other members of the medical team Assist patients, family members or other patients with concern and empathy; respects their confidentiality and privacyMaintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; comply with legal regulationsManage and maintain medical supplies inventory; place orders for new materials as needed; perform preventative maintenance to keep equipment operatingManage and maintain patient medical records to ensure complianceOther duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong customer service skillsAbility to draw blood, run EKG and give injectionsBasic computer skills with ability to learn new softwareAdhere to acceptable professional/clinical boundaries and confidentiality Ability to work cooperatively with multidisciplinary teamsKnowledge of medical terminologyAbility to multi-task and prioritizeAble to work proactively independently and as a teamHigh level of compassionJob Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalency and; 1-2 years experience as a Medical Assistant with 1 year in the mental health field preferredCertified Medical Assistant preferredValid drivers license and current auto insuranceEssential Functions/Physical Demands:
