Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Assistant to join their dedicated team at their Ambulatory Surgery Center for a temporary three-month assignment. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of clinical Pre-operative and PACU experience to provide exceptional patient care during this critical period.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient phone interviews to document basic medical history.
- Communicate with physician offices to obtain necessary patient medical clearances, EKGs, blood work, and other pre-surgical documentation.
- Manage phone calls and assist with patient inquiries.
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and EKGs as needed.
- Update and maintain accurate medical records.
- Place orders for required medical equipment and supplies for the pre-op and recovery units.
- Greet patients and escort them to the pre-op or discharge areas.
- Assemble medical records according to unit standards.
- Prepare patients for surgery and facilitate their discharge process post-surgery.
- Ensure pre-op and recovery areas are stocked with necessary supplies and prepared for patient use.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the clinic.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in Pre-Op and PACU settings is required.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities.
- Proficient in computer operations and medical software.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
