Job Details Under the direction of the Physician Revenue Realization Manager, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to new and existing patient clientele for the Arrhythmia Center at St. Francis Hospital. Calls will include scheduling/changing appointments and ensuring that all benefits and plan requirements are verified and reviewed with the patients prior to service being rendered. This position also provides coverage at the office when needed, checking-in patients and collecting point of service payments when appropriate. *This is a hybrid role, working one day in the office and four days from home. Must also be willing to fill in at the Front Desk at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY as needed. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive high call volume from existing and new patient clientele. Verify accuracy of patient insurance and demographic information. Review all payer requirements for scheduled services, including financial responsibilities, authorization and referrals, based on the patient’s active coverage Ensure appropriate payments are collected at time of service. Maintain current insurance carrier requirements for benefit verification, referrals and authorization. Respond to requests for information and telephone inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, and outside agencies in a courteous manner. Greet and check-in patients at the front desk as needed Meet productivity standards Perform other related duties as requested or directed by your supervisor POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Skills: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and insurance carriers Strong customer service background Ability to handle more than one task at the same time. Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Must have excellent computer, time management, organizational and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite as well as A/R systems and associated applications required. Ability to communicate need for assistance to Manager Knowledge of CPT and ICD codes Ability to navigate insurance carrier websites Establishes and demonstrates competency in physician billing software Knowledge of NY State No Surprise bill act. Technical Requirements: Must have high speed WiFi. Must meet technical access requirements for remote efficiency Hybrid requirements: Hours must be worked during standard business hours 8-4, 9-5 Must meet all productivity standards Must attend all required meetings remotely and in person as required Responsible to ensure the safety and condition of all CHS provided hardware Must have private secured workplace. Experience: 5 years customer service in physician billing. Experience with insurance verification and carrier websites. Salary Range USD $27.00 - USD $32.00 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
