We are seeking a dedicated Billing and Follow-Up Specialist to join our Patient Financial Services Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulations governing CPT codes, diagnosis codes, Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance guidelines. Key responsibilities include: + Billing and follow-up of patient and client accounts. + Researching and resolving pending and unpaid laboratory claims. + Accurately interpreting remittance advices regarding payments, adjustments, and patient responsibility. + Reviewing Electronic Fund Transfers (EFTs) and insurance payments to ensure correct posting. + Inputting patient, insurance, and claim information into billing systems. + Working assigned work queues on billing systems and gathering missing or incomplete billing information. + Thoroughly researching reasons for denial, short payments, overpayments, recoupments, and refund requests. + Professionally answering incoming phone calls from patients, clients, and payers. + Taking patient/client payments over the phone where applicable. + Communicating with customers if additional information or research time is required and following up within an acceptable timeframe. + Handling daily and payment reconciliation processes. + Batching incoming mail and handling patient/client/payer correspondence. + Answering all incoming patient and other phone calls to the Patient Financial Services Department. + Sorting and distributing mail, scanning correspondence, and other duties as assigned. + Promptly and effectively resolving general patient inquiries and requests. + Courteously and accurately transferring calls to the appropriate staff members. + Distributing mail, faxes, reports, and itemized bills to the appropriate staff members. + Picking up and delivering departmental mail to and from the Woodland Prime mailroom at least twice daily. + Responding to requests for discharge dates, yearly payment account information, and mailing itemized bills to the appropriate party. + Noting accounts of any and/or all appropriate activity by utilizing the Epic System. + Scanning appropriate documents to OnBase for correspondence posting to Epic. + Accurately processing all credit card transactions including Outpatient Pharmacy copay assistance payments in the payment processing system. Additional Skills & Qualifications: + High School Diploma. + 1 year of experience billing for medical care/service. + 1 year of customer service experience with telephone etiquette. + History working in the EPIC billing system. + Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. + 1+ years of billing experience. + Working knowledge of medical billing practices such as contractual adjustments and cash posting. + Experience using computerized billing/collections systems in a hospital setting Work Environment: + 7:30am-4:00pm Monday - Friday Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00 • Medical, dental & vision• Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital• 401(k) Retirement Plan – Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available• Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents)• Short and long-term disability• Health Spending Account (HSA)• Transportation benefits• Employee Assistance Program• Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Milwaukee,WI.
