Position Summary
A Medical Billing Assistant is responsible for managing the billing process within a healthcare facility, including tasks like verifying patient insurance information, submitting claims to insurance companies, following up on unpaid claims, processing patient payments, and maintaining accurate billing records, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for medical services.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge normally acquired through high school education; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in medical billing including medical terminology, procedural coding, diagnostic coding, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Medicare/Medicaid/ HMO/PPO claims processing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
+ Experience in medical insurance billing and claims follow-up
+ Experience in understanding payor explanation of benefit forms
+ Experience with ICD-10, CPT and HCPC coding
+ Excellent communication and computer skills, including proper grammar and spelling and phone etiquette, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products e.g., Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint
+ Ability to multi-task and priority task identification
