Job Summary
The PEI Medical Care Coordinator will, after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, perform duties and responsibilities that are associated with the maintenance of hearing aids as related to patient care provision at PEI. The coordinator’s role is to perform routine tasks and duties so that audiologists are available for the more complex evaluative, diagnostic, management and treatment services that require the education and training of a licensed audiologist.
Essential Functions
Manage inventory including incoming/outgoing hearing aids, parts, and supplies. Place orders for hearing aids as directed by AuD. Fill out paperwork and handle shipping for manufacturer orders and repairs. Triage hearing aids that have been dropped off and perform minor repairs as needed. Check on status of repairs, orders, and insurance approvals as needed. Assist in training students with regard to paperwork, EHR/office management system, and other office-based tasks. Triage patient phone calls and emails regarding HA questions or issues. Handle requests for batteries, wax guards, etc. Assist with verification of hearing aid benefits. Assist with answering phones and accepting deliveries at PEI front desk. Comply with federal, state, University and Pennsylvania Ear Institute procedures and policies. Other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information. 2 – 4 years’ experience in ambulatory healthcare practice also providing retail healthcare products and services. Demonstrated experience using practice management systems, electronic medical record programs, as well as Office suite (Word, Excel, Access). Additional training will be provided as needed on-site at PEI. Skills and Other Requirements: Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills Ability to work independently and solve problems Comfortable working with people with limited communication skills and other disabilities Ability to articulate in a clear manner conducive to the needs of a hard-of-hearing consumerPreferred Qualifications
Familiarity using Counselear EHR system, or similar Knowledge of third-party billingPhysical Requirements

This position is classified as non-exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $19.69 - $29.54 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
