PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: \n

To accurately link ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes to daily charges, ensure ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes are updated and reviewed regularly for accuracy, monitor physician and physician extender coding practices, and ensure that all charges are accounted for and entered in a timely manner. \n

ESSENTIAL SKILLS\/ABILITIES TO EFFECTIVELY PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nRepresent Minnesota Urology in a professional manner related to appearance, communication and the maintenance of patient and company confidentiality.\nAbility to work as a team member.\nAbility to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, co-workers, management, and providers.\nAbility to effectively incorporate the use of technology into day-to-day tasks (Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, NextGen and UroChart).\nAlpha and 10-key proficient \nAbility to examine medical documents for accuracy and completeness. \nAbility to prepare records in accordance with detailed instruction.\nAbility to analyze work methods to effectively organize work, make improvements, and correct problems.\nAbility to multi-task and switch gears based on workflows and situations requiring immediate action.\nRemain up-to-date and knowledgeable of coding procedures as well as remains current with federal legislative changes that affect outcomes.\nKnowledge of basic insurance policies, procedures and reimbursement practices\nSupportive of the goals and objectives of Minnesota Urology.\nConsistent attendance and punctuality.\n\n

EDUCATION\/TRAINING\/LICENSURE:\n\nCompletion in one of the following programs required within first year of starting in the position:\nCPC through AAPC\nCCS though AHIMA \nRHIT through AHIMA \nRHIA through AHIMA\nTwo or more years of coding experience preferred. \nPrevious independent specialty physician practice experience preferred.\nPrevious EMR experience required. Experience with Athena preferred, not required. \n\n
