McKesson P&AS Advisory team works with McKesson Health System (MHS) customers to assess and optimize targeted pharmacy operations, improve financial performance and help increase efficiencies with a focus on supply chain, ambulatory, retail, specialty, supply chain and health system pharmacy operations. The Managing Pharmacist Consultant will provide the necessary subject matter expertise related to operational, financial and data analysis support to identify improvement opportunities, to execute deliverables and document value and demonstrate expertise in pharmacy related to health systems supply chain, retail and specialty. Works on strategic imperatives (e.g. supply chain improvements, product selection, formulary management and payer optimization & specialty pharmacy).
The Managing Pharmacist Consultant will be skilled in solution management, financial projections and calculations, data analysis, McKesson’s portfolio of products and can manage timelines for multiple customers simultaneously. The Managing Pharmacist Consultant demonstrates the ability to oversee the project scope and achieve accelerated results through focused solution management. They provide internal P&AS team leadership with ability to set the strategy, identify cross-business unit opportunities and are recognized as a subject matter expert providing guidance and formal consulting services.
The Managing Pharmacist Consultant will assist in the building of various tools, software and other support services in their area of expertise to provide episodic and ongoing advisory support to customers with business and performance improvement opportunities.
The Managing Pharmacist Consultant requires understanding of customer-centric approaches and may participate in providing services and support on-site or remotely. The Managing Pharmacist Consultant collaborates with P&AS leadership, other subject matter experts and analysts across McKesson business units for feasibility analysis, to recommend quantifiable improvements that optimizes and adds value for the customer, focusing on financial improvement, operational efficiency, and revenue enhancement. This ultimately provides value to the customer and McKesson in priority areas.
Reporting to the Vice President of P&AS Advisory or Designee, the Managing Pharmacist Consultant demonstrates the ability to work independently with McKesson Health Systems sales executives, P&AS team resources, and other McKesson business unit leaders on customer engagements. They serve as a mentor and coach to less experienced members of the team and participate in the interviewing and hiring process for new P&AS team members. The Managing Consultant supports MHS sales and customers a compendium of advisory, analytical and decision-making expertise related to P&AS Solutions and McKesson business units based on industry best practices and trends.
The Managing Pharmacist Consultant demonstrates expertise in the business of pharmacy and partners with the P&AS team to enhance and further develop technological value solution(s) for customers. The Managing Pharmacist Consultant works with P&AS and other McKesson business units, using the Agile process and Lean Six Sigma, to identify opportunities and recommend solutions needed to better serve the evolving customer and McKesson priorities. Strategy will incorporate P&AS Services and Solutions and other McKesson business units and business partners. They may be assigned as the Product Lead for a P&AS Solution or McKesson Imperative.
The Managing Consultant will assess potential financial and operational opportunities related to supply chain, specialty and/or retail pharmacy along with supporting customers in the following areas:
Work with customers to determine opportunity needs. Outlining traditional and innovative strategies for optimization and enhancement within regulatory limitations.Develop documents that clearly outline the project objectives.Calculate financial opportunity for customer based on revenue and savings assessment projections.Document the value customer realized and value to McKesson.Develop business opportunities for customers to implement or improve health system pharmacy.Represent P&AS Solutions portfolio of McKesson products and servicesSpecialty and/or retail pharmacy feasibility, expansion or optimizationRevenue enhancement billing assessment and recovery (reimbursement, payors, DIR)Supply Chain Optimization (i.e. Generic Optimization, inventory management, Low Unit of Measure)Tools and techniques for pharmacy practice efficienciesSupport ancillary McKesson services such as patient assistance programs and 340B high level opportunitiesContribute towards development of other tools and services to support McKesson CustomersIdentify business opportunities for McKesson and/or business partnersDemonstrate expertise in a McKesson P&AS product and service and innovative strategies for supporting customers and McKesson.Work with customer to ensure successful implementation of McKesson products and services.Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy Degree Required
Certification
Licensed Pharmacist with >10 years’ experience
