We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Medical Doctor/Consultant to provide expert medical opinions and manage referrals within our underwriting function. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate risk assessment and decision-making in our insurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Opinion Provision: Analyze and interpret medical reports, test results, and health records to provide expert opinions that inform underwriting decisions.

Case Evaluation: Assess complex medical cases and provide recommendations on insurability and risk levels to underwriters.

Collaboration: Work closely with underwriters to clarify medical aspects of cases and ensure informed decision-making.

Referral Management: Handle incoming medical referrals from underwriters, prioritize urgent cases, and ensure timely and accurate evaluations.

Guideline Development: Assist in the creation and revision of medical underwriting guidelines and protocols to improve assessment accuracy and efficiency.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated on medical advancements, emerging health trends, and regulatory changes affecting underwriting practices.

Communication: Clearly communicate complex medical information to non-medical professionals and stakeholders in an understandable manner.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of cases reviewed and decisions made, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Management Assistance: Assist with management responsibilities, including monitoring medical service standards and quality/audit reviews.

Qualifications:

Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with a valid license to practice.

At least 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in internal medicine and family medicine.

Strong analytical skills to assess medical information and determine risk implications.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and reporting.

Familiarity with insurance underwriting principles and practices is a plus.

Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in complex cases.

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.
