If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.** **Medical Director, Specialty and Pipeline (Neurology)** As a critical member of the US Medical Affairs team, the Medical Director, Specialty and Pipeline (Neurology), will be responsible for the development and execution of high-quality medical strategy for the disease area(s) which they are responsible for and connecting the vision for the brand(s) throughout its lifecycle. Bayer Medical Directors ensure that all internal stakeholders receive a high level of scientific and medical support for their business needs, while ensuring adherence to the highest standards of ethics and compliance. External stakeholders are supported by Medical Directors through dissemination and communication of scientific and clinical data. The Senior Medical Director will also maintain responsibility for the incorporation of customer insights into the development and implementation that is in line with US strategy. As a Medical Director, the individual filling this role is expected to draw upon extensive medical affairs, clinical, and scientific experience to lead independently and with minimal oversight and direction. The successful applicant will have clearly demonstrated evidence of problem-solving, negotiation skills, and objective success including launch and pre-launch experience. **YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** The primary responsibilities of this role, Medical Director, Specialty and Pipeline (Neurology), are to: + Provide expertise in the development and execution of the overarching medical strategies within their therapeutic area, offering critical inputs during design and throughout the end-to-end execution of programs; + Actively lead in the planning and administration of activities concerned with the clinical evaluation of drugs in development for the purpose of obtaining an approved Investigational New Drug (IND) or New Drug Application (NDA); + Active participation and effective collaboration with global teams to ensure and integrate appropriate US direction of the Life Cycle Management strategy; + Develop and implement the Integrated Evidence Plans and functional programs to improve the value proposition for the portfolio and impact of Bayer medicines; + Serve as a disease area medical expert for stakeholders across internal functions, as well as connect with external customers, including health care professionals, payers, and patient advocacy groups; + Provide medical scientific input for brand and program documents, including integrated disease area plans, medical information documents, drug safety reporting documents, etc, while ensuring design and execution of all medical activities are according to internal and external compliance guidelines; + Support completion of annual New Drug Application (NDA) reports for respective brands through evaluation of clinical data and literature and provide US Medical Affairs input in the preparation of key medical documents for INDs and NDAs. This includes ensuring appropriate US Medical Affairs input in interactions with the FDA and providing appropriate medical leadership for any interactions; + Develop and guide local Thought Leader (TL) management strategy as part of brand engagement strategy; + Together with the therapeutic area VP, responsible to ensure that the personnel of the local team are adequately trained on the processes related to Drug Safety and Product Quality (handling of adverse effect reports and / or product quality complaints); + Create and lead regional strategy providing the adequate local input in all aspects related to medical activities in which the US participates. Ensures the implementation and execution of the aligned strategy; + Promotes the participation of the US Medical Function on Regional/Global Strategic teams looking either at new drug development products or further development of existing product ranges **WHO YOU ARE** Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: **Required Qualifications** : + M.D. or D.O. required; + Expert level disease and therapeutic area knowledge in both existing drugs and new fields of exploration; + Clinically relevant work experience or independent research experience or equivalent or past experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry or of extensive collaboration with the industry (e.g., lead PI and consultant, FDA employee or advisor); + Deep understanding of clinical study design, analysis and interpretation as well as the principles of observational studies and health economics/ outcomes research; + Proven ability for strategic planning along with operations skill and experience related to clinical research involving both single and multiple centers; + Proven record of excellent project management skills and experience; + Strong ability to quickly build meaningful and trusting relationships, both internally and externally to the organization; + Understanding of the drug development process over different stages; + Strong ability to connect and collaborate across different functions and background, both internally and externally to the organization; + Innate ability to lead others without formal authority, with demonstrated experience guiding teams from design to implementation of strategic initiatives; + Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in written; + Willingness and ability to travel as business dictates, both for internal and external functions. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology, preferred; + 5 years’ work experience in the pharmaceutical sector in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development or related positions; + Experience in the field of medical support of a product portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas; + Experience in leading and participating in teams across cultures and geographies, prior experience in global medical launch planning activities; + Familiarity with the US healthcare system and reimbursement landscape; + Experience collaborating with brand/ commercial and market access teams within the pharmaceutical sector; + Experience presenting and communicating scientific/ clinical information to payer stakeholders, in collaboration with market access teams; + Experience in medical information. Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $212,575 to $318,862. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
