Description DUTIES: Serves as chief clinician in Crater District responsible for formal supervision of certified nurse practitioners by assigning, scheduling, reviewing, and evaluating their work. Also provides direct care by performing examinations, diagnoses, treats, counsels and prescribes treatments for patients and makes referrals as needed to other medical and clinical specialists. Work requires licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, proof of education (diploma or transcripts), professional licensure verification, and E-Verify. Conviction information, ascertained through a fingerprint-based background check, is a final step in the application process (if selected for the position). A valid State Driver’s License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency. VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year’s seasonal influenza vaccination. Ability to interview, examine, diagnose and treat patients at a high level of quality. Knowledge of communicable diseases, their therapy and methods of prevention. Knowledge of principles and practices of general public health. MD Degree, license to practice medicine in Virginia are required; Board-eligible or Board certified in medical specialty. Experience in managing medical professionals and programs. Prior experience in public health, family planning/GYN, and/or STDs preferred.
