ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Edit and Revise Scientific Documents and Program MaterialsEdits complex, often lengthy scientific and medical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, formatting, and punctuation; for adherence to applicable publication, regulatory and client guidelines; and for consistencyReviews final submission and confirms all changes incorporated prior to final approval before material is sent for production or submissionReviews iterative draft submissions to ensure that requested changes have been included in the materialEdits Microsoft Word, Excel, and PPT documents using defined styles, corporate/and client-company templates, journal requirements, and Simpson document style guidePerforms quality checks to ensure accuracy of near-final documentation and confirm functionality of final output (Acrobat bookmarks, internal hyperlinks, etc.)Reviews and/or revises draft materials from medical writers to ensure alignment and consistency with other program materialsCoordinates the flow of documents via document-sharing systems (e.g., Basecamp) and follows all processes to ensure version control throughout the project development and editorial review processes.Reviews and enhances copy to improve overall contentPerforms and coordinates reviews between project elements for pull through of global changes/editorial enhancements
Effectively Partners with all Project StakeholdersEnsures consistency across similar material, guiding project stakeholders and scientific team members on correct usage of AMA, client style guides, and journal/congress requirementsWorks with scientific and publication team to support rewrites and revisions of scientific documents; including substantive copy writing and editingSupports project teams in annotating and referencing material for submission to different reviewers and/or journals/congresses
Maintains a High Level of Professional KnowledgeThrough professional associations, publications, and/or meetings, maintains knowledge/understanding of medical and scientific issues related to developing documentsThorough up-to-date working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style; medical terminology; and acronyms related to current projects and disease states
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PREFORM THIS ROLE:
1. 5-10 years of experience in medical editing within a medical communications company; medical publishing, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology client setting. Direct publication experience a plus
2. Stickler for accuracy and perfectionism—relentless attention to detail
3. Familiarity with GPP22 guidelines
4. Well-versed in the American Medical Association Manual of Style
5. Fluency in review of digital/interactive/tablet PC tactics as well as print
6. Strong research skills, including journal research, congress research, and literature searches

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $58,500.00 - $97,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
