Medical Education Specialist

Job Description

Coordinates and organizes the activities associated with staff and medical students. Assists in resident/fellowship recruitment, evaluations, scheduling and maintaining department personnel records. Acts as point of contact for House staff and medical students across campuses or departments, as necessary. May act as lead to lower level classifications.

Job Responsibility

 

Responsible for verifying proper credentialing of residents; obtains necessary documents and credentials and submits to appropriate hospital departments.  Screens applicants and coordinates the recruitment and selection of all resident students; reviews resumes and applications and responds to all requests for residency applications.  Coordinates department resident orientation and all major resident meetings; plans orientation schedule, arranges location, notifies residents regarding necessary orientation documentation and schedules involved faculty.  Responsible for “Procedure Credentialing System” as required by appropriate accrediting agency; regularly reviews database for residents’ procedure credentials and keeps the leadership informed of status.  Compiles statistics, creates reports and summarizes results of resident evaluations and assessments for department manager.  Coordinates with the Office of Academic Affairs on all Visa issues; maintains records for all candidates’ interviews, match process and final selection.  Arranges interview dates with involved parties; coordinates with Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for all students and medical schools; ensures timely submission to the National Residency Matching Program, if applicable.  Maintains proper credentialing of present House staff and resident files.  Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.  Performs related duties as required. Job Qualification

 

Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
