We are seeking a Medical Funding Officer to join our Global Medical Affairs (GMA) team. In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of external grants and sponsorships within assigned therapeutic areas (TAs). Acting as an internal expert in Medical Education and Sponsorships, you will assess grant applications, ensure compliance, advise stakeholders, and oversee grant-related processes.
Additionally, you will monitor grant activity, deliver reports, support process improvements, and contribute to training and project coordination. This is a dynamic opportunity to drive impactful educational initiatives while supporting Boehringer Ingelheim’s mission.

**Tasks & responsibilities**
+ **Develop and Implement Medical Education Plans**
+ Create and execute annual medical education plans aligned with therapeutic area (TA) objectives and unmet needs.
+ **Grant and Sponsorship Management**
+ Review, determine eligibility, and approve grants and sponsorships to support impactful educational activities, including creating Calls for Grant Applications (CGAs).
+ **Compliance and Quality Assurance**
+ Ensure adherence to government regulations, Boehringer’s Human Pharma Compliance Directive, and SOPs while maintaining high-quality grant reviews and monitoring criteria.
+ **Educational Activity Oversight**
+ Audit supported educational activities, analyze data, and score organizations to assess quality and outcomes.
+ **Stakeholder Communication and Issue Resolution**
+ Communicate with grant applicants regarding decisions, resolve escalated issues, and provide additional information when needed.
+ **Training and Internal Support**
+ Assist in developing and delivering training presentations to support BI’s educational needs and enhance internal quality standards.
+ **Collaboration and Reporting**
+ Collaborate with committees, lead TA meetings, and support external compliance audits by providing summaries and implementing process changes.
**Requirements**
+ University degree in Business, Health Sciences, Health Technology Sciences, Project Management or a related area
+ At least several years of experience within Medical Affairs in a local/regional affiliate and/or corporate environment
+ A few years of professional experience in Medical Education roles in an agency or a pharmaceutical company
+ Operational experience in managing medical grants and sponsorship processes, including assessing applications, ensuring compliance, and advising stakeholders. Familiarity with funding lifecycle management and related business processes is essential.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate effectively across matrix and cross-functional organizations
+ Ability to work independently in complex matrix organizations, with a strong focus on achieving results and driving success
+ Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus
