Job Description

As a Medical Lab Scientist I, you will be responsible for testing assigned specimens during the evening shift. Your role includes following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. You will ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens, analyze specimens using approved testing procedures, and review and release test results. Adherence to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines is required.

ResponsibilitiesFollow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.Review and release test results.Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within acceptable levels of performance.Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the technologist or supervisor.Essential SkillsKnowledge of chemistry, laboratory procedures, and clinical laboratory operations.Understanding of CLIA regulations and requirements.Experience in medical laboratory processing.Degree in Chemistry with 25+ credits in chemistry courses including analytical and instrumental courses (requirement for CLIA for State of CA).1 year of clinical lab experience.Work Environment

This position is based in a clinical lab environment, which is very busy with increasing volume. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62000.00 - $70720.00/yr.
