Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist / Medical Lab Technologist I to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing both routine and complex technical procedures and functions to ensure quality patient care. This role involves operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, preparing and evaluating new reagents or controls, and reporting accurate test results. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
ResponsibilitiesDetermine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.Maintain and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.Assist with processing of specimens when needed.Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.Essential SkillsMLS or MLT (ASCP or AMT Certification)Hematology experienceGood communication and people skillsProficiency in medical laboratory and clinical laboratory proceduresAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent as per local regulatory CLIA State requirements.Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience.State Medical Technologist license may be required.Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems is a plus.High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.Work Environment
The position is located within an oncology-based clinic. Candidates should be comfortable working in a cancer care environment. The role requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment. Flexibility in work hours, including the possibility of overtime or other shifts based on business needs, is necessary.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.30/hr.
