The Medical Technologist must promote good public relations for the department and Northwest Regional Medical Center while maintaining patient/customer confidentiality.
Medical Technologists are responsible for:
Performs manual and automated routine blood tests.Prepares specimens for microscope examination.Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Typically reports to supervisor or manager.Requires graduation from an accredited MT/MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technology, or HEW.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.Education / License / Certification:Associates or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science required1-5 years experience in field or related areaASCP preferredExperience / Skills:Able to meet sensory requirements of the job.Capable of performing all laboratory tests and related calculations.Able to participate in laboratory Quality Assurance ProgramAttention to detail and concentrationAbility to work in fast-paced, ever-changing environmentAbout Northwest Health
