Performs routine laboratory tests in various sections of the laboratory. Performs common testing procedures and reports test results. Performs quality control testing. Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests. Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information. Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested. Performs and determines accuracy of technical lab procedures Maintains records of procedures performed, the patient results and the quality control required for all procedures performed. Performs quality control procedures outlined by the manufacturer or departmental procedure for each procedure or piece of equipment. Maintains accurate and complete records of all quality control tests completed. Assures that all out-of-control procedures are followed and that there is documentation of remedial actions taken. Reads and understands all procedure manuals on an annual basis. Performs quality assurance studies as assigned. Collects biological specimens. Prepares and forwards biological specimens to appropriate reference laboratory according to departmental procedures. Provides instruction to students/new employees with regard to procedures and departmental policies. Contributes to a positive work climate and to the overall team approach to the laboratory. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.
