Position Summary
An MLT I performs various quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests for analyses of various blood, body fluids and tissues, in order to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. A MLT I must follow established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures. Understands and complies with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.

Associate degree in a laboratory related science with completion of an approved technical training program or equivalent experience.Experience

Core Job Responsibilities
Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric. Must be able to make decisions about sample collection and handling and perform testing of samples. Must be able to perform instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and quality control. Must be able to maintain accurate records and reporting of test results with the knowledge of critical values. Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position while responding calmly and efficiently in crisis situations. Must possess ability to make decisions and use appropriate judgement. Must be able to work as a team member, demonstrating good interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate professionally with physicians, management and staff.
