The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for performing both routine and specialized laboratory testing, ensuring quality control measures are followed. The role requires an understanding of the theory behind most tests and the ability to troubleshoot common technical issues. The scientist will obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing, perform screening tests, report results, and prepare specimens for dispatch and testing at reference laboratories.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing.Ensure quality control measures are strictly followed.Understand the theory behind most tests and troubleshoot technical issues.Obtain blood specimens and collect non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs.Perform screening tests and report results.Process specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing.Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.Essential Skills
Proficiency in laboratory techniques.Ability to perform and understand routine and specialized tests.Troubleshooting skills for technical problems in testing.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred.Prefer Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) but Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is acceptable.Work Environment
The position involves working two evening shifts from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, including every other weekend. The work environment is equipped with advanced laboratory technologies to support efficient testing and processing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
