Fairview is looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist based at M Health Fairview Clinic - Eagan. This position will be a "float" position and will be trained to work at all the Southeast clinics including: M Health Fairview Clinic - Apple Valley, M Health Fairview Clinic - Rosemount, M Health Fairview Clinic - Eagan, M Health Fairview Clinic - Oxboro, M Health Fairview Clinic - Lakeville and M Health Fairview Clinic - Cottage Grove. This position will be in a weekend rotation with all other employees and currently the weekend rotation is working either a Saturday or Sunday shift every 5th weekend. The shifts for this position can vary based on staffing needs. Our clinics are open from 7 am to 8 pm so shifts vary to accommodate clinic hours. The Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MLS/MT) functions independently in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. An MLS/MT performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, and acts as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results. The MLS/MT correlates data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. The MLS/MT collaborates with the customers of the laboratory to promote customer satisfaction. The MLS/MT participates in laboratory performance improvement activities. Job expectations include: Follows established guidelines to obtain specimens and prioritize work. Performs a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing. Recognizes problems and takes appropriate measures to resolve them. Evaluates testing results for accuracy and appropriate intervention. Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to Laboratory Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement and Laboratory Compliance Programs. Orients and mentors’ new employees and students. Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science Nursing in a related laboratory field including the related lab practicum or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA’88 Good phlebotomy skills Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
