Christiana Care is recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Scientist to manage the Point of Care Testing (POCT) program. The POCT Lab is centrally managed from the Newark campus for the system. However, this role will require flexibility for assignment/deployment to other sites across the system when needed. This position is Day Shift, Monday - Friday.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as a technical resource for POCT instrumentation and connectivity, and methodology

Reviews and revises POCT policies and procedures with the collaboration of POCT manager at other Christiana Care locations

Reviews and manages Christiana Care Blood Gas (I-Stat) quality control and patient data daily, including troubleshooting the I-Stat system and interacting daily with nursing and physician staff to resolve problems

Reviews quality control and proficiency testing for all POC testing including ensuring that corrective action, maintenance and troubleshooting are documented appropriately

Meets all requirements of CAP, Joint Commission, and other inspection and/or regulatory agencies for POCT

Educates non-laboratory staff POCT personnel in good laboratory practices, technical procedures, and regulatory requirements

Maintains a POCT Quality Assurance program

Acts as a liaison between patient care areas and clinical laboratory, promoting understanding and collaboration between departments

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science; or equivalent BS degree which requires completion of clinical rotations through an approved education program

ASCP Certification required

At least three years of medical laboratory science experience

Teaching experience preferred
