Job Description

Perform clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Staff who work second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. Receive specimens, perform clinical testing, understand method principles, perform quality controls and instrument maintenance, and interpret results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.

ResponsibilitiesPerform clinical testing in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology.Receive and process specimens.Understand and apply method principles.Perform quality control procedures.Conduct instrument maintenance.Interpret test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in a related field.Experience in Microbiology preferred.Eligibility for AMT or ASCP certification within the year.Nationally recognized clinical laboratory science certification, credentials or equivalent within 12 months of hire.Accurate performance and collection of tests while maintaining patient confidentiality.Strong reasoning ability and good independent judgment.Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Effective communication skills.Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.Ability to work under stress and contribute to a team environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in Microbiology is preferred.Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes flexible scheduling with shift and weekend differentials.
