Medical Laboratory Technician (PRN), McLeod Oncology Hematology

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

1. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-

2. Organize and perform analysis of specimens to include quality control

3. Evaluate validity of results obtained. Record and report results

4. Perform routine and pre-routine maintenance

5. Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques, anticoagulants, and protocol

6. Assist in maintaining supplies

7. Review worksheet status, technical inquiry, uncollected tests and printed worksheets for technical and clerical accuracy

and assure necessary corrections to appropriate records are made

8. When assigned coordinates and supervises daily technical activities

9. Analyze processes of highly complex testing to validate results and quality assurance.

10. Assist MD with Bone Marrow aspirations and process for testing

11. Order all Genetics specialty testing (Oncotype Dx, Foundation One, Biotheranostics, etc.)

12. Process specimens for Labcorp testing to be performed

13. Perform manual diff

14. Answer phone calls, questions and fax results as needed

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications /Training:

· 3 years full time acceptable clinical lab experience or Completion of a military Medical Laboratory Specialist

course Phase I and Phase II

· 3 years full time acceptable clinical lab experience

 

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

· Certified by a recognized certification agency

· Minimum of an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or 60 semester hours academic credit from

accredited school
