Medical Laboratory Technologist Lexington, KY
Full Time, 1st Shift

Description:
Understands pertinent Laboratory Information System functions and performs downtime procedures effectively
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the laboratory
Follows all required laboratory safety, infection control policies and chemical hygiene plan according to OSHA and regulatory requirements
Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results. Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel
Identifies patients and specimens correctly from beginning of process to release of results
Participates in the maintenance and care of the equipment and documents maintenance and problems correctly
Communicates with all shifts and follows through concerning incomplete work/issues. Notifies the supervisor of problem situations and possible solutions
Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire
Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science field
Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire
