Medical Lead Hepatology
Site Name: China - Shanghai - Pudong - New Bund International Square Posted Date: Jun 26 2024 Role Purpose职位目的: The China Medical Lead – Hepatology is responsible for medical strategy of a key asset and achievement of the tactical objectives. This role is critical to the overall success of the Hepatology asset and in ensuring patients benefit from our scientific advancements as a core member of Global Medical Affairs Team (GMAT) and Integrated Evidence Team (IET). This leader is responsible for ensuring strategic alignment with China Commercial, Global/Regional Medical, and the overall China Medical matrix. The position must ensure China needs for medical and health outcomes evidence generation are represented and incorporated into the global integrated evidence plans and recommend scientifically appropriate measures within health outcomes research over the lifecycle of the medicine(s) to optimize its product value. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities主要工作职责: Responsible for China medical Hepatology strategy and execution for medical asset activities in China driving effective alignment and synergy across related indications’ medical plans and activities where applicable; ensure plans are aligned with the same asset business strategy where appropriate Build and lead a high-performing medical advisor team to strategically prioritize and deliver impactful medical projects and activities to demonstrate external impact with measurable assessments Drive the cross-functional Medical Matrix Team (MSL, Medical advisor, VEO, Medical Partnership & Risk Management) to tailor/ adapt global asset strategy for China specific patient needs and environment. Provide strategic oversight of China Business Plans aligned to strategy Represent China medical perspective bringing a strong China view on medical strategy and China customer needs as input to global strategy and is responsible for overall success from enterprise thinking. Working with China Pipeline portfolio, Market Access, Medical/VEO and Development, ensures strategic alignment of asset positioning and evidence planning with the overall therapeutic portfolio and disease area strategies Medical plan and budget responsibility at the asset level in China Applies sound medical governance for all activities and is accountable for medical governance oversight and sign off for all asset indications Steadfast commitment to the ongoing professional development of the talent reporting into the role and other in the organization as appropriate. Effective management of talent reporting directly into role Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Life sciences, Pharmaceutical, Medical or equivalent Degree 6 + years Pharmaceutical Industry experience with relevant work in the Hepatology/Infectious Diseases highly preferred Medical Affairs experience, Asset/Brand team with pre-launch experience is highly preferred Leadership experience in in leading high-performing teams and matrix functions Demonstrated relationship-building with the key medical/scientific experts Experience working in a matrix environment and managing senior stakeholders effectively Effective team and matrix leadership, with proven ability to motivate, influence, negotiate, and collaborate; strong project management skills; solid planning and organizational skills; strong scientific/analytical problem-solving skills. Strong business acumen, strategic mindset and communication skills (oral and written in English and Chinese), including the ability to identify and articulate the value of clinical and heath outcome data to internal stakeholders and external customers. Pipeline/pre-launch management experience, including the ability to detect and foresee potential changes in the healthcare, regulatory and competitive environments throughout the product lifespan; to understand the impact of new data on the value / positioning of products in guidelines / formularies; and to proactively identify unmet needs and how to address them. Robust knowledge of China healthcare environment including disease-specific research priorities, public health need, competitor landscape, clinical practice trends and treatment guidelines evolution. Leadership skills with a demonstrated ability in building high-performing team, fostering collaborative relationships – ability to work effectively with others, delegate appropriately and foster a culture of collaboration Deep understanding of medical governance ensuring enterprise-wide application. Clinical research experience obtained from the pharmaceutical industry or academic or clinical practice setting is desirable. Why GSK?
