Medical Manager – Rare Diseases/Rare Blood Disorders   

Location: Sydney Office based in Macquarie Park with WFH 2 days per week Competitive salary, sales incentive & car allowance included 

 

About the job 

 

The RD Medical Manager will participate to and execute the Medical and scientific (non-promotional) strategy for the RD portfolio/therapeutic area in close partnership with the other functional franchise leads and in alignment with the overall franchise strategy. 

Reporting to the Medical Lead-Rare Blood Disorders and Rare Diseases, the Medical Manager is accountable for driving patient-centric outcomes and business success by driving Medical strategy and solutions, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and inspiring, partnering and leading in a designated therapeutic area. 

The Medical Manager drives the development and lifecycle management of specialty care products through strategic alignment and execution of activities related to KOL engagement and advocacy, ISTs and company sponsored non-registration trials, publication planning, CME activities, as well as in the design and implementation of large High Risk Testing (HRT) programs to increase the number of ANZ risk patients screened for Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD).  The Medical Manager is also part of the cross-functional Brand Team.

Main responsibilities: 

Lead and drive rapid integrated evidence planning and execution through deep understanding of internal and external stakeholder evidence needs and robust data gaps analysis. Deep therapy area expertise and product knowledge including competitor data. Drive collaborative relationships with above-country colleagues to ensure the country involvement and strategic input into global and regional plans. Rapidly assimilate new data and integrate into new therapy area. Create industry leading digital educational and scientific content that is timely, relevant, interactive and innovative. Responsible for developing and managing Key Opinion Leader engagement plans aligned with Brand strategy. Focus on implementing agreed Medical strategies by realising the value-creating contribution of Medical Affairs in supporting SG products in the Australian market. Communicate market Insights that are of critical importance/impact on SG current and future brands, and provide scientific/clinical context to assist with a strategic assessment. Drive solutions and improvement of processes/procedures to achieve Execution Excellence. 

 

About you  

Doctorate level education: MD or equivalent Medical degree, PhD or PharmD with Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (life science or pharmacy).   Additional postgraduate specialist qualifications in a medical /science field (e.g. MSc / PhD) would be ideal. Industry experience within Rare Diseases & Rare Blood Disorders is essential. Good understanding of the continuum of data generation including clinical development, Real World Evidence (RWE) and data gaps analysis. Good understanding of the impact and evolution of healthcare systems. Ability to act independently with a solutions-oriented and balanced approach to the grey areas. Skilled at implementing true scientific engagement journeys, by bridging channel disconnect to drive ongoing engagement and grow collaborative opportunities and meaningful scientific exchange. Confident in the use of Omnichannel tools and ability to adapt to new channels. Excellent communication skills including driving challenging discussions
