Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Support, Commissioning, and Field Work:

Develops a thorough understanding of all radiation beam measurements and other product specific tests necessary to support both the CyberKnife and TomoTherapy products, as well as the tolerances of those measurements and the potential clinical impact of each parameter.

Demonstrates a commitment to keeping up with new products, product improvements, software, and procedures relevant to CyberKnife and TomoTherapy customers and field support activities.

Contribute to the development of Quality Assurance and commissioning tools as required

Travels to customer sites to assist in the resolution of machine and/or patient-specific Quality Assurance issues

Trains medical physicist customers in the use of the TomoTherapy and CyberKnife systems including, but not limited to machine Quality Assurance, absolute dose calibration and applicable alignment and accuracy tests. As necessary, explains basic planning and patient treatment workflow to individuals responsible for patient planning and treatment.

Trains customers, including Medical physicists, Radiation therapists, Dosimetrists, in the use of the TomoTherapy and CyberKnife systems, including, but not limited to, machine Quality Assurance, absolute dose calibration, and applicable alignment and accuracy tests. Furthermore, conducting clinical training, including treatment planning and patient treatment workflow, and supporting customers to fulfill the TomoTherapy or CyberKnife practical patient treatment.

Demonstrates consistent professionalism in interactions with customers, both external and internal.

Participate in the Physicist On-Call roster as required, following the procedures in the physics on-call guide, including proper tracking and documentation of support activities

Responds to customer enquiries and issues related to machine and patient QA activities in a timely and professional fashion.

Leverage the physics knowledge and clinical experiences relevant to either the TomoTherapy or CyberKnife system to support the sales/marketing department to enhance further company advantages.

Safety and Quality :

Understands the relationship between machine and patient Quality Assurance measurements and relevant regulatory requirements.

Ensures safety and quality considerations and requirements are proactively addressed and implemented to meet regulatory requirements.

Conducts appropriate physics verification activities on hardware and software designs and design changes.

Supports the Accuray Quality System by adhering to documented procedures.

Develop or assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the unit

Revises and documents procedures through proper channels when changes are desired or necessary.

Addresses and reports in a timely manner all safety and quality issues raised by customers or staff.

Reports customer feedback via Product Feedback Requests (PFR’s), and participates in the development of the customer satisfaction program as needed.

Maintain professional contact with peers through attendance at professional meetings and related activities.

Remains an unwavering advocate for patient safety.

Radiation safety: As required, perform calibration checks and radiation surveys of Accuray systems. Measures or verifies the radiation exposure levels for the appropriate areas inside and surrounding treatment bunkers and can advise on appropriate shielding and verification activities.

Miscellaneous other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree of Science in Radiation Technology or Radiation Dosimetry, Master Degree of Science in Medical Physicist is preferable.

Minimum 3 years of prior experience in Radiation Oncology or in Commercial company as a Radiation Dosimetrist, Application specialist or as a Medical Physicist.

Practical, hospital based medical physics experience related to patient planning and/or machine quality assurance for radiation therapy

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. 

Good Command of English and Mandarin Chinese ( written and spoken)

Must be able to work well with a diverse audience; previous experience as part of a project team is a plus.

Must be a team player

Strong basic computer skills, including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) are required.

Capable of working without close supervision, be able to successfully schedule, organize and conduct field service activities in assigned territories.

Prepared to work flexible hours including weekends.

Ability to travel, normally approximately 40% to 50% based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move physical inventory weighting up to 50 pounds.

The employee may be required to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required during the calibration, commissioning, development, and testing of CyberKnife and TomoTherapy products.
