The Medical Physicist Proton- Chief:

Oversees the medical physics department across the BayCare system. Responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation and precise and accurate delivery of radiation plans for the safety of patients and staff.May participate in clinical, research and educational duties, supports and adheres to safety and compliance program to include OSHA, HIPAA and the Code of Ethics. Provide continuing physics support to the department of radiation oncology. Assist and provide coverage in areas of instrumentation, equipment calibration, treatment planning, dosimetry, radiation protection, quality assurance, equipment selection and acceptance.Mentors and supports the growth of other physicists in the proton center and oversees the complex clinical operations of the proton therapy service. Works closely with the BayCare Radiation Oncology Medical Director and other Radiation Oncologists in accreditation processes and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Required certification and license: American Board of Radiology certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics and Medical Physicist License in the State of Florida.Required Education: Master’s Degree in Physics or Medical Physics. PhD in physics from an accredited college or university preferredRequired Experience: Five or more year's experience in a large radiation physics program, with multiple machine modalities and services. Three or more years experience in proton therapy is required
