Medical Receptionist - Care Center Hematology Oncology /Full-Time/Day Shifts

Sign On Bonus Available: $2,500 with experience (Pro-Rated for Part Time Positions)

Salary Range: $16.66 -$20.34

Essential Functions:

Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary.Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up. Greets the patients and maintains direct eye contract for excellent customer serviceAnswer the telephone and effectively assist all customers/patients.Gathers demographic information and enters/updates in computer system.Conducts intake activities with respect for patient's privacy and rightsListens attentively to patients and /or parents or caregiver.Reacts in positive helpful manner to questions or inquiries Interacts with waiting patients to keep them apprised of delays Notifies clinical staff of patients delays and cancellationsAssists co-workers during heavy workloads and during absences willinglyAccurately completes and verifies patients charges on fee slipsAnswers telephone and effectively assists customer transfers, take clear messages, spells correctly and uses proper grammarOversee cash payment and accurately applies payment to patient accountsPrepares and maintains accurate medical records.Makes copies as requested Files lab and other medical documents with accuracy when requiredDemonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to communicate and provide information appropriate to age and specific needs of patients Demonstrates ability to adjust explanation of insurance, procedures and office procedures based on age or need of patientAssists patient need for assistance in completing forms Assures that all required forms are completed by patient Proficiently works with computer systems to communicate and maintain patient health recordsOther General DutiesEnhance professional growth and development through educational annually.Coordinates with staff the need for office suppliesReports equipment malfunction to clinic managerWorks as a team member with all practice staff.

Qualifications and requirements

High school Diploma or Equivalent Associate's degree- Preferred
