Summary :The Medical Records Specialist obtains, completes, and maintains the computer system for medical records. Manages the flow of required documentation and initiates follow up when necessary.

Job Description:

SCHDULE:

Shift: DaysNo weekendsPotential to float between Appleton and Neenah

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Completes, releases, retains, and purges medical records based on facility, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Ensures uniform quality of the medical record.

Collaborates with multiple disciplines to effectively and efficiently assist in the completion of the medical record.

Knows and understands the expertise of disciplines outside of health information.

Files and retrieves medical records and chart documents.

Processes all inbound and outbound calls.

Provides support services within the defined service area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED preferred

Must be 18 years of age

One year of experience in medical office or records

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normally works in climate controlled office environment

Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space

Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

Use of computers throughout the work day

Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
