The Georgia Department of Driver Services is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Medical Review Clerk (AL) to serve the Medical Review Unit. This position is typically the first point of contact for the general public and stakeholders.
Under limited supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions in a high customer interaction/fast paced environment. The duties include inspecting and analyzing documentation, compiling data, and conducting research. Incumbents will be expected to enter data captured from Requests for Driver Review, Medical and Vision Reports, and other Correspondence into a Microsoft Access database and accurately update driver records on the mainframe. The responsibilities include a strong knowledge of policies, rules, and statutes pertaining to the issuance, renewal, revocation, and reinstatement of a Georgia driver’s license. Incumbent will be expected to research case information, analyze data, and make determinations of medical clearance or revocation applying appropriate guidelines.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Ability to interact with individuals form various backgrounds and psychological conditions;
• Ability to assist in conducting training sessions;
• Ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws, rules, and regulations and guidelines;
Competencies Needed:
· Ability to make decisions with limited supervision;
· Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in teams;
· Ability to manage multiple tasks, file accurately
Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for responding to management and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with the core values of the Department of Driver Services. The incumbent will be expected to maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to change in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent will be responsible for investigating customer complaints, presenting his or her findings to management, and making recommendations to management on the most appropriate course of action. The incumbent will be expected to serve on task teams, workgroups, and projects. The incumbent will be expected to assist with training events and participate in various outreach efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED, and three (3) years of experience in a customer service setting communicating information;
OR
Two (2) years of experience REQUIRED at the lower-level position of Customer Service Representative 2 (GST121).
OR
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum
qualification above, also possess the following:
+ At least one year of experience in the DDS- Regulatory / Records management department processing documents accurately and in a timely manner.
