Medical Scheduler
Description We are seeking a Medical Scheduler to join our team in the healthcare industry, based in Charleson, South Carolina. As a Medical Scheduler, you will play a key role in coordinating patient appointments, procedures, and ensuring the smooth running of our medical services. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and medical procedures • Answer patient inquiries, addressing their questions and concerns • Liaise with external medical facilities to organize patient procedures and acquire patient records • Manage tasks delegated by physicians or other departments within the office • Maintain clear communication with external provider offices to secure medical clearances for patients • Calculate patient payments and collect copays and deductibles • Collaborate with hospitals to modify physician schedules • Contact insurance companies to secure prior authorization for medical procedures • Perform basic office duties such as verifying demographics, sending outbound faxes and referrals, managing medical release forms, and monitoring supplies • Maintain detail oriented correspondence with physicians and other staff regarding patient inquiries or concerns. Requirements • Proven experience in scheduling patient appointments in a healthcare setting • Proficiency in basic medical terminology and understanding of medical office procedures • Demonstrable experience in a medical front office role, handling administrative tasks • Ability to assist patients with their queries efficiently and professionally • Prior exposure to managing patient calls, ensuring timely and accurate communication • Experience in patient check-in procedures, maintaining a seamless flow of operations • Familiarity with patient chart preparation and management • Understanding of patient insurance processes, including verification and documentation • Experience with maintaining and updating patient medical records in accordance with privacy regulations • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple appointments, ensuring optimal patient care • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical professionals effectively • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency in scheduling appointments.
