Job Summary:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler with EPIC Experience to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring a seamless and efficient scheduling process for patients, providers, and clinical staff. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) software to manage appointments, referrals, and patient information. Your ability to communicate clearly, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced medical environment will contribute to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, procedures, and tests using EPIC software, ensuring proper alignment with provider availability and patient needs.
+ Verify patient insurance and authorization details, ensuring that all prerequisites for appointments are met.
+ Communicate scheduling details effectively to patients in a compassionate and professional manner, providing reminders and instructions for upcoming visits.
+ Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure smooth clinic operations.
+ Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
+ Update and manage patient records and demographic information in EPIC to ensure accuracy and completeness.
+ Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, or EPIC messaging in a timely and professional manner.
+ Monitor and minimize schedule gaps and cancellations through proactive communication and queue management in the EPIC system.
+ Generate and analyze EPIC reports related to appointments, workflow efficiencies, and patient volumes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
+ Proven experience as a medical scheduler or administrative assistant in a healthcare setting.
+ Proficiency in EPIC scheduling and operational workflows; EPIC certification(s) is preferred but not required.
+ Strong knowledge of medical terminology and standard scheduling practices.
+ Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
+ Exceptional customer service and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse patient populations.
+ Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and excellent organizational skills.
+ Familiarity with patient insurance verification processes is a plus.
