Summary of Position:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion’s products across their life cycle. The MSL communicates accurate and applicable science to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within a geographic area, leads and maintains professional relationships with KOLs, and identifies collaboration opportunities with Alexion. Combining a strong ability to understand business and clinical expertise, the MSL serves as a peer-to-peer liaison both internally and externally.
What You’ll Do:
Developing and maintaining peer-to-peer collaborations with key medical experts in the therapeutic area (TA) and adjacent specialties within the assigned region.Serving as a scientific peer-to-peer resource to Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) disease experts.Driving the identification, development, and alignment with Key Opinion Leaders, other important healthcare professionals (HCPs), and partners, including professional organizations.Educating the medical community with up-to-date medical and scientific information and exhibiting robust disease expertise and product information.Delivering quality medical education presentations in a variety of settings and acquiring valuable feedback that can be disseminated throughout the organization e.g. Staff Meetings, Round Tables, Hospital Meeting activities. Communicating and educating Alexion internal customers on local initiatives on disease and treatment guidelines in a timely manner.Identifying and implementing collaboration opportunities between expert KOLs in NF1 and Alexion medical affairs, and clinical development such as publications, collaborative research, regional advisory boards, training, and speaker development programs.Communicating expert opinion, feedback on new data, and clinical trends to Alexion Medical Affairs, therapeutic area franchises, and translating this information into strategic recommendations to improve science and advance patient care.Supporting and implementing the Brand and Affiliate Company Strategy to ensure that accurate and comprehensive scientific information concerning our products and therapeutic area is available to decision-makers and healthcare providers.Ensuring that physician experts are fully trained on speaker presentations, all questions are accurately addressed, and references are provided upon request.Responding to unsolicited medical information requests in the region, handling questions, collaborating closely with headquarters to ensure accurate response has been provided, and ensuring that data is fair and balanced.Providing input into collaborative research objectives and serving as a champion for proposals submitted. Serving as point person and conduit for respective projects and in conjunction with clinical operations, performing clinical study feasibility and supporting effective study implementation.Attending appropriate national and international meetings and congresses to gather intelligence, assist personal education, ensuring to use these opportunities to develop relationships with important HCPs for the assigned geographic area.Ensuring a close working relationship with cross-functional partners including commercial operations, sales, and marketing teams.What We’re Looking For:
