The **Medical Secretary** provides support to the neurology department and performs a full range of administrative medical support services while ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, patient registration, answers incoming calls and performs other related clerical functions.
This position is full time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 701 White Pond Dr. Akron, OH.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Taking messages for providers, handling forms: FMLA/Disability/BMV
+ Requesting records and retrieving records from offices/hospitals
+ Prepping charts, scanning documents
+ Verifies patient insurance coverage and eligibility utilizing computer-based patient registration / scheduling system
+ Documents appropriate information in patient’s charts using an electronic medical records system
+ Completes and maintains physician’s schedules, coordinating patient visits and medical procedures
+ Ensures insurance authorizations are obtained and services are covered in full, communicating information with patients as needed

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
+ Must be 18 years of age or older
+ 1+ years of experience working in a healthcare environment
+ Proficiency with the use of PC, typing capabilities, and comfort with various software applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Medical secretary office experience
+ Experience utilizing electronic medical records
**Soft Skills:**
+ Proven excellent customer service skills and ability to multi-task necessary
The hourly range for this role is $23.20 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
