MEDICAL SERVICES SPECIALIST AND INTERPRETER
Purpose:

The Medical Services Specialist and Interpreter provides translation services onsite and offsite.  This position is responsible for verifying, processing and updating all client medical insurance and/or medical assistance information and posting this information in the KidsPeace electronic client files. These responsibilities include communication with client guardians and referral sources as needed in order to secure updated and accurate information. The Medical Services Specialist and Interpreter also assists the nurse in the provision of client care activities as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The position also provides clerical support to the nursing office. Bilingual/Spanish is required

              

Job Duties / Essential Functions: Provide translation assistance at onsite and offsite medical appointments. Provide written translation assistance with medical documentation received from country of origin or from other international medical encounters. Act as a Medical Chaperon at onsite and offsite medical appointments upon client request. Assist the physician and/or nurse with client/sponsor/guardian counseling encounters, including but not limited to medical diagnosis counseling, discharge counseling, and nursing education groups. Assist the onsite or offsite physician and/or nurse with securing Spanish to specialty dialect interpretation services. Assist in the completion and data entry of all assigned client medical information. Assist nurse and/or physician with client examination and diagnostic testing. Assist in completion of medication documentation. Verify medical insurance benefits for all new admissions into the KidsHaven program as assigned and enter this information into the KidsPeace electronic record. Review medical expenses charged to KidsPeace for insurance or medical assistance benefits and communicate this information to Providers. Seek reimbursement from ORR for non-covered medical expenses as per KidsPeace contracts or other agreements. Demonstrate working knowledge of insurance funding systems in order to coordinate medical benefits. Perform basic clerical functions (answer telephone, copy and FAX documents, order supplies). Schedule and track client medical and dental appointments. All other duties as assigned by management.
